Facultly: can the library purchase textbooks for my course?

No. Library funds cannot be used to purchase required course textbooks.

If funding is available through the Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) program, it may only be used to purchase:

  • Class sets for in-person courses, or
  • eBooks that allow unlimited simultaneous users.

Faculty are welcome to place a personal copy of a textbook, or a library-owned copy if available, on course reserve for students. Be sure to check out the ZTC libguide for more up to date info for ZTC.
